Capacitive displacement sensors can measure the thickness of any non-conductive equipment. Capacitive displacement sensors have a wide range of its application in semi-conductor processing, machine tool metrology, measurement of precision thickness and even assembly line testing. The capacitive displacement sensors are mainly used in machining and manufacturing services all around the world in large proportions.<br />
The application is briefly described below:-</p>
<p>1. The capacitive displacement sensors are commonly used in precision positioning. Capacitive displacement sensors are used to figure out the position of objects, even of a nanometer level. This particular type of positioning is used in semi conductor industry like silicon, where the silicon wafers are needed to be arranged for exposure.</p>
<p>2. The capacitive displacement sensor also finds its application in a disk drive industry, where it is used to measure the axis of rotation from a fixed ideal line in short known as the runout. By knowing the runout, it’s easy to have an estimation of how much data can be stored into the drives.</p>
<p>3. Though the capacitive displacement sensor is used for the positioning of conductive bodies, it can also determine the thickness of non-conductive bodies or targets.</p>
